How early can I apply for a study permit in Canada? I have already been accepted and classes start in 09/08?
exmy asked:
The program accepted is for an MBA at the University of Ottawa. Quite frankly, I would like to travel as early as March ‘08, so that I may be well prepare in advance considering that I have 3 kids and I would like to place them into school in order for them to pick up the language and the culture rapidly.

Hi. Based on the way you presented your question, specifically the comment “….to pick up the language and the culture rapidly” …. in reference to your family, I’m guessing that you’re not from the States. If that’s true, you may need Visas for yourself and your family to enter Canada, in addition to your own Study Permit. If you would like to enter Canada by March, you should start that process immediately.
Although specific to American students, the links under the “Reference” section, on the bottom of the “Legal Documentation” page, at the website below, should help you. I would also suggest that you call Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and discuss your situation with a representative. I speak to one of their representatives at least once a month and they are EXTREMELY kind, helpful and understanding. I’m sure that whomever you speak with will give you both excellent and helpful advise.
Best wishes to you and your family!
