It is mandatory to speak english and french for all federal government jobs.

YES YES YES, not only in Canada but in a large number of other countries. Having more than one language is always a plus. Speaking for myself, the company I operated almost ALWAYS gave preference to multilingual applicants and many of the companies I’m acquainted with also feel the same way. Oh, and the pay is generally better for multilingual staff. Many companies in Canada REQUIRE their employees to speak at least French and English and generally will look for people who speak more than just those two.

You don’t have to know that much French but it’s beneficial. First, you should work on you English.

Instead of “Does french really helpful in canada?”
Try “Is French really helpful in Canada?”

It could still be phrased better though…

If you live in a predominantly English speaking part of the country it’s not necessary to know French, but may be helpful. It is NOT mandatory to speak both French and English for a federal government job, unless you’re in a designated bilingual region of the country (most people I know who work for the feds don’t speak a word of French).
