Where can I learn to speak my third, fourth, etc. language?
bermuda890 asked:
I live in Canada and my native tongue is English, but I am also learning French in school. By the time I graduate I will be considered fully bilingual. My question is, for those of you who speak many languages, where/how did you learn to speak them. Did you take night classes? Took courses at university? Used software? I am just wondering because I am interested in learning a few other languages (I was thinking Spanish and German).

i learn my third language when i came to usa since alot of my friends speak english and spanish i meix them then i just startd to use one at time
so basically is just of matter of what kind of language your friends have
There are a lot of institutes, you wont learn in 1 o 2 weeks, it takes time. The spanish is easier to speak that german, because words dont have special pronuntiations
If you want learn of another way, you can hire a teacher of those languages. Anyway searching in the internet are lots of courses of many languages starting from zero.
most people learn best by necessity, so if you can, go live in germany, spain, mexico, etc.
other than that, I suppose you can take university courses. software for learning languages, in my experience, is trash.
I learned 2 languages (Spanish, Vietnamese) using the Rosetta Stone software. It really does help and it’s very fast and easy! Just go to your local office supply store and ask them about the Rosetta Stone Lanuguage software. It does work!

Good Luck with your languages!
Buena suerte con sus lenguas!

I am a native English speaker. I learned the basics of French, Italian, and Spanish in school. I find school with textbooks to be the best combination for learning because I learn best by reading.
In high school, I was taught French for two years with nothing but a series of filmstrips. That is a crappy way to learn because it doesn’t teach you how to spell in the language. When I took French in college, it was like starting all over again, just because I didn’t know the spelling and thus couldn’t write well.
Anyway, having a textbook as well as other people to speak the language with helped me a great deal. Having no one to practice with will make it more difficult for you to retain what you learn. So I would find people who speak German and Spanish to spend time with or correspond with, to help you keep the languages in your head.
Best of luck!
i learned two natives languages at the same time since i was a kid. sundanese (local dialect of west java) at home and indonesian at school. since the 3rd class of elementary school, we have learned english. and by the time we go to the university, we have to choose two other foreign languages. for me, they were japanese and german.
it was not so easy. sometimes i mixed all of them.
i took some courses to learn japanese and german.
but if u want to learn with software, try this product:
digital publishing: deutsch 1 and 2
i suggest u to buy version 11, because you can install (max.twice) it into ur comp and maybe sell it again to get your money back
this software is perfect for learning the whole german from grammatic, etc, etc.
but if you want to focus more with the conversation and pronounciation, try
auralog deutsch
I’m Italian, I’ve been studying 13 years at school having English lessons each year and I didn’t even know the verb “to be”. Two years and a half ago, I decided to learn English, so I began by studying grammar in a book and learning some words out of a vocabulary. Then, I started watching a lot of American movies and in a very short time I’ve learnt it! (I still have to improve it a little bit, though).
Trust me, if you REALLY want to learn a language and fast, watch tv and movies in that language!
I am learning Français with Rocket French
There Is a Spanish version to it
