How can i regain my impression?
Mona Lisa!!! asked:
i lost my impression since the very first day of my school. i was very nervous becoz this was the first time i had ever been into a school in canada. and i was esl too, so i couldn’t communicate with people very well. so that made my classmates think i was stupid. then after even tough i tried hard to dress like people here and try to communicate with my colleagues, they didn’t talk to me. they started avoiding me. so i stopped asking them for help. and i decided to talk to my only friend in class who could speak my language.that made things even worse. now there’s only a few people that talk to me. what should i do now? how do i regain my impression on them? i need your help….

Relax! Don’t worry so much about what others think! Sometimes when someone tries too hard to be accepted, especially in a new culture- it can work the opposite. Slow down. As your English skills get better you will gain more confidence and things will get better. And soon you won’t worry about your image! Actually, some people are turned off by people who are too image conscious. I’m not sure if you are in high school, college or what, but I’m guessing you are young. Good luck! Oh one quick English lesson - your use of ‘impression’ isn’t really correct in the context of your note. Did you mean image?
