Are high schools in Germany better than the ones in Canada?

randomdude asked:

I am maybe going to live with my father by the end of the year. He lives in Germany and I live in Montreal, French city of Canada. I will also go to school in Germany if I go live there.

Does anyone know if high schools there are better than the ones in Canada? That’s pretty much the only thing that can really make my choice easier. Soon I will also go to University, what about European universities compared to others? I am not interested in a law or medicine career by the way, I want to go in international business, produce and import things from China and other things that revolves around that.

Sorry if my English is horrible in this question by the way, it’s not my native language and I am not completely concentrated right now.

first of, germany has a different school system than canada (or the socalled “american system of education”). they have good schools, yes, especialy if you go to the really good private ones where you pay top money (but otherwise school for germans are free!). but, in germany, if you graduate in their “high school”, you are actually done until “second year of college” in our system. and then if you take it one more level after that with their system, you’re done with what is the equivalent of a master’s degree…

needless to say, there are international schools there who would follow what we know as “normal” system… high school, college, then graduate school. i went to an american international university in germany and am now enjoying the perks of coming out of a good school. there is an american int’l university in most major cities throughout europe, esp. for business majors, and some of them would even include a trip to another country (like china) for a semester as part of the curriculum … this would be best for you. good luck!!!

Yes! High schools in Germany have a much, much higher standard than those in north America. The kids are singled out at age ten and have to pass an examination .I remember only two out of 60 boys and girls really made it.And only one of them made university.University standarts are the same .It is very Elitist.University graduates will look down on the rest of the population like they are inferior humans.however if your Marks are really high and you like a challenge you might fit in with no problem. Best wishes. Viel Glueck
